Preliminary design materials are now available for public entities, for-profit and non-profit organizations that are interested in developing, maintaining and operating an accessible housing facility for people with disabilities who have extraordinary medical needs.

The materials are available to help entities understand the design features that would be most helpful to people with extraordinary medical needs. As part of the project, the vendor consulted with individuals, families and others who are familiar with extraordinary medical needs to determine the features that would be most beneficial.

Entities are responsible for identifying and securing financing or other resources necessary for building and implementation.

“Accessible housing designed around extraordinary medical needs can help people live with greater comfort, dignity and support,” said Jennifer Henderson, North Dakota Housing Finance Agency’s community housing and grants management director.

Interested entities can review eligibility requirements and request design materials by completing the following form hhsnd.site/housing-design-materials.

More information is available by contacting Jennifer Henderson at (800) 292-8621, (701) 328-8080, 711 (TTY), or [email protected].

During the 2025 legislative session, North Dakota lawmakers directed North Dakota Health and Human Services to collaborate with North Dakota Housing Finance Agency, people with disabilities, caregivers and families to solicit proposals for the development of accessible housing for people with disabilities who have extraordinary medical needs.
